hydrogen monitoring corrosion probe
Atomic hydrogen (H+), (generated by the Cathodic corrosion reaction) can lead to two types of failures in steels; Hydrogen Blistering & Hydrogen Induced Cracking (HIC). Hydrogen monitoring instruments indicate the susceptibility of steel to HIC and hydrogen blistering by measuring the rate of atomic hydrogen permeation. There are several techniques for hydrogen monitoring, i.e., intrusive and non-intrusive, make use of the fact that the released hydrogen gas will build up pressure.
